ETH Medals for outstanding doctoral theses
Three MTEC researchers were awarded the prestigious ETH Medal for their outstanding doctoral theses by ETH Rector Sarah Springman. Congratulations!
Dr Katharina Erhardt received the prize for her doctoral thesis entitled "On the heterogeneous effects of trade and fiscal policy". During her doctoral studies, she focused on the effects of tax policy and models of international trade. Her thesis was supervised by Professor Peter Egger of the Chair of Applied Economics: Innovation and Internationalisation. Currently Katharina Erhardt is continuing her research on international trade, firm-level heterogeneity, innovation and entrepreneurship at the same chair. Download abstract
In her doctoral thesis, Marie-Charlotte Gütlein focused on aspects of decision-making behaviour under conditions of risk and ambiguity. She wrote her thesis, entitled "Essays on Decision-Making under Risk and Ambiguity in Theory and Laboratory Experiments", under the supervision of Professor Antonie Bommier of the Chair of Integrative Risk Management and Economics. Currently Dr Marie-Charlotte Gütlein is working as a postdoctoral researcher at Grenoble Ecole de Management in France. Her research focuses on individual decision-making strategies and behavioural factors underlying consumers’ investment decisions and adoption of energy efficient technologies. Download abstract
Dr Amulya Tata received the ETH Medal for her doctoral thesis entitled "Managerial Cognition, Search and Strategy: Essays on Microfoundations", which was supervised by Professor Stefano Brusoni of the Chair of Technology and Innovation Management. In her thesis Amulya Tata investigated how selected individual abilities influence search behaviour, and ultimately performance. Her research included entrepreneurs, start-ups, competitions, and 3D printing which were studied using a variety of methods such as experiments, big data analysis and interviews. Currently Amulya Tata is working in the FinTech start up Advanon in Zurich. Download abstract
