Michael Graff received his MA in Sociology (1989) and his PhD in Economics (1994) from the University of Hamburg and a second PhD (habilitation) in Economics from the Technical University of Dresden (2000). In 2003 and 2004, he worked as Economic Adviser for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in Wellington. From 2005 to 2007, was Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. From 2007, he was heading the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division at KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich. From 2011 to 2015, he also held a part-time position of a Professor of Development Economic at Jacobs University in Bremen. In 2012, in recognition of his achievement in teaching and reserach, he was awarded the title of a Titular Professor at ETH Zurich. He retired in May 2024 and continues as as Professor emeritus.
