Curriculum Update 2028
From autumn 2028, ETH Zurich’s PAKETH reform will change the university's academic calendar and examination system. At the same time, D-MTEC will introduce a revised Master of Science in Management, Technology, and Economics (MSc MTEC).
The new MSc MTEC curriculum from the autumn semester of 2028
From the autumn semester of 2028, the programme will follow a revised structure, with a foundation semester and four pathways.
What is changing?
- Foundation semester: In your first semester, you will take foundational courses in economics and management.
- Four pathways: In your second semester, you will choose one of four pathways:
- Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Economics for Business and Policy
- Operations
- Sustainability in Business and the Economy
- Internship: The internship will become optional rather than mandatory.
Starting your studies before autumn 2028?
If you begin your studies before autumn 2028, you will transition to the new study regulations in the autumn semester 2028. Please plan your studies in close consultation with Student Services to ensure a smooth transition. We recommend contacting Student Services early to discuss your course selection and future pathway.

Consecutive admission for ETH and EPFL graduates
From the autumn semester of 2028 onwards, graduates of the D-MAVT and D-ITET bachelor’s programmes at ETH Zurich, or the corresponding programmes at EPFL, will no longer be eligible for consecutive admission.
