Involved chairs, centres, and institutes
Start your doctoral journey with a strong academic foundation. In your first year, you typically build a strong academic foundation by taking courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. You choose your courses together with your supervisor to ensure they support your research goals.
Courses can be taken at ETH, the University of Zurich or the Study Center Gerzensee of the Swiss National Bank, which both offer full first-year PhD programs. Please note that external institutions often have early deadlines, sometimes before your employment contract begins.
Note: Contact your supervisor early to plan your course selection.
