Start your doctoral journey with a strong academic foundation. In your first year, you typically take courses in quantitative and qualitative research methods as well as topics relevant to your individual research focus. You choose your courses together with your supervisor to ensure methodological depth and alignment with your research goals.
Courses can be taken at ETH or at other suitable Swiss and international institutions. Please note that external institutions often have early deadlines, sometimes even before your employment contract begins.
