Internship

As an integral part of the programme, the internship gives you the opportunity to apply the skills you have learnt in courses in a professional environment. The internship is mandatory and lasts for at least ten weeks (full time).

An internship enables you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, explore different career options and develop your network. You can do it in Switzerland or abroad with a company or a non-profit organisation, depending on your preference. You can also do additional voluntary internships.

How to find an internship?

Finding and choosing an internship is based on your initiative. Here are some places you can start to look:

Required for international students from non-EU/EFTA countries

If you are an international student from a non-EU/EFTA country, you need to provide a confirmation from the D-MTEC to the prospective employer, which states that the internship is mandatory. Please request this confirmation through .

Attention

If you request recognition for an internship that was completed before the start of your MSc MTEC studies, you will not be able to obtain a confirmation that an internship is mandatory for your degree. Please note that such a confirmation is required only for students from non-EU/EFTA countries in order to meet the legal labour requirements for doing an internship in Switzerland during their studies.

You have to submit a brief internship report and a work certificate* on Moodle: 363-0879-00L Practical Training | Moodle Course

*You will receive a certificate from the company or organisation where you completed your internship, confirming its duration.
