Performance assessments
Performance assessments are either graded or evaluated on a pass/fail basis. The grading scale ranges from 1.0 to 6.0 in quarter-grade (0.25) intervals. The minimum passing grade is 4.0, and the maximum grade is 6.0. You may repeat failed performance assessments once.
Three types of performance assessments
End-of-semester examinations are held at the beginning of the semester vacation. They are the most common type during your MSc MTEC studies. Visible on myStudies latest until semester week 7.
Session examinations are carried out twice a year. These examinations are planned by the ETH Examinations Office. After registering, the schedule for the session examinations is displayed in myStudies. Some session examinations may only be offered in certain semesters.
Semester performances are graded or ungraded assessments during the semester or as part of irregular courses such as block courses.
Reviewing graded examinations
You can see the result of performance evaluations in myStudies. Within 6 months after the examination, you may review your completed and graded examination copy. If you do not agree with a grades and performance evaluation issued, you can either file an appeal or seek legal redress.
