Application and admissions
We welcome applications from ambitious students with a university Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, computer science or technology. Depending on where you graduated from, there are different application periods.
Application
Applicants with a Swiss Bachelor's degree can apply in April 2025 for a start in September 2025.
Applicants with a Bachelor's degree from a university not in Switzerland can apply again in November 2025 for a start in September 2026.
Consecutive enrolment is possible without application for Bachelor's graduates from D-ITET and D-MAVT at ETH Zurich (see below).
1 November – 30 November | First application window
The first application window is open to all students. It is mandatory for:
- students with a Bachelor's degree from outside Switzerland
- students who wish to apply for the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP)
- students with a Master's degree/PhD from a Swiss university who obtained their undergraduate degree outside Switzerland
1 April – 30 April | Second application window
The second application window is only for students with a Swiss Bachelor's degree.
Applications from candidates who obtained their Bachelor's/undergraduate degree outside Switzerland cannot be considered, even if they have a Swiss Master's or doctoral degree.
Persons who applied in the first application window but have been rejected may not apply for the same Master’s programme in the second application round.
ETH Zurich supports excellent students with the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) for the duration of the Master’s programme as well as with dedicated supervision and access to the network of the external page ETH Foundation. The Excellence Scholarship covers full study and living costs (CHF 12'000 per semester), as well as a tuition fee waiver for the regular duration of study (four semesters).
Application Process for ESOP Fellowships
D-MTEC welcomes applications for the ESOP fellowship from outstanding BSc graduates (top 10% of Bachelor’s degree programme) with a strong vision of their future academic trajectory. Applications are possible during the first application period in November via the ETH application platform eApply.
Admission requirements
Depending on your Bachelor's degree, different admission requirements apply. D-MTEC specific admission requirements are determined by the MSc MTEC Regulations and its appendix.
