ELS 2024 with UBS
The 2024 edition of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Seminar (ELS) provides a rewarding learning opportunity in collaboration with UBS. Work with some of its key stakeholders on a business case involving strategy, technology, AI and innovation.
UBS is Switzerland’s largest banking institution. It is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive innovation and excellence in finance. With a focus on AI, it intends to develop solutions that enhance decision-making, improve client experience, and ensure robust security and compliance. Through advanced AI initiatives, UBS aims to transform traditional banking and financial services, making them more efficient, transparent, and equitable. By integrating AI into its core operations, UBS wants to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and set new standards for ethical and strategic applications of AI in finance.
You will work in teams on assignments related to the interface of technology, strategy, innovation, and business that flow from UBS’s current strategic agenda. You will be assigned to one of three projects based on your profile:
- How can we govern AI in banking?
- Can AI transform M&A targeting?
- How do we ensure ethical AI in Finance?
To gain insight into how UBS works, you will receive briefings from senior management and have unique access to many areas of the organisation. You will conduct interviews with experts and run workshops with your case managers. In your final presentation, you will pitch your findings to key UBS stakeholders, such as senior managers, and receive valuable feedback from them in return.
D-MTEC professors and lecturers will coach and support you in project scoping, problem definition, problem solving and process improvement, strategy, and board presentation.

- Dr Oliver von Dzengelevski, Chair of Production and Operations Management

You will work on a real business case involving strategy, technology, digital transformation, and innovation in close collaboration with UBS’s senior management. The recommendations you formulate with your team and internal and external experts will be discussed at the partner and senior management levels. For this, you will need to acquire a deep understanding of the company’s leadership culture.
