ELS 2025 with Georg Fischer
The 2025 edition of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Seminar (ELS) provides a rewarding learning opportunity in collaboration with Georg Fischer. Work with some of its key stakeholders on a business case involving strategy, technology, AI and innovation.

Georg Fischer (GF) is a global industrial company based in Switzerland specialising in flow solutions for the safe and sustainable transport of liquids and gases with around 19,000 employees in 46 countries.
In the ELS, you will work in teams on assignments at the interface of technology, strategy, innovation and business that flow from GF’s current strategic agenda. You will be assigned to one of three projects based on your profile:
- Project 1: From Weld to Cloud
How can we create a scalable concept for digitised solutions? - Project 2: Innovation Funnel
How can we fill the innovation funnel with fresh ideas and foster fast, transparent decision-making within GF’s new global structure? - Project 3: Digital Valves & Services
How can we identify, validate, and prioritise promising research ideas within the Digital Valves and Digital Services sub-product categories?
To gain insight into GF and its corporate culture, you will receive briefings from senior management, including a personal meeting with the CEO, Andreas Müller.
You will interview experts and run workshops with your case managers. In your final presentation, you will pitch your findings to key GF stakeholders, such as the CEO and the division heads.
D-MTEC professors and lecturers will coach and support you in project scoping, problem definition, problem solving and process improvement, strategy, and board presentation.
- Professor Stefano Brusoni, Chair of Technology and Innovation Management
- Dr Oliver von Dzengelevski, Chair of Production and Operations Management
- Professor Georg von Krogh, Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation
The course is directed and organised by Professor Zeynep Erden and Dr Isabel Spicker as part of the D-MTEC Leadership Development Programme.
You are an ambitious ETH student or doctoral candidate looking for a rewarding learning opportunity and eager to go the extra mile. You will work on a real business case involving strategy, technology, digital transformation, and innovation in close collaboration with GF’s senior management. The recommendations you formulate with your team and internal and external experts will be discussed at the partner and senior management levels. For this, you will need to acquire a deep understanding of the company’s leadership culture and strategy.
