Aptitude Colloquium
Registration & Requirements.
All doctoral candidates must organise and register for their Aptitude Colloquium within the first year of their doctorate. Passing this event is mandatory for final admission to the doctoral programme.
What Is the Colloquium:
A presentation of your doctoral plan (max. 20 min) followed by discussion (approx. 45–60 min)
You must demonstrate your ability to assess the relevance of your research and place it in the current academic context
What You Need to Do:
Plan your colloquium date together with your doctoral thesis supervisor
Nominate your second advisor (before registering) via this registration form.
Submit the Aptitude Colloquium registration form at least 10 days before your colloquium, including:
Names of your Aptitude Committee members
Organisational details (date, location or video conference)
Your Aptitude Committee Must Include:
A chairperson (professor at D-MTEC or Doctoral Committee member)
Your doctoral thesis supervisor
Your second advisor (mandatory, must be nominated before registering)
Additional members (optional)
Important Notes
- The colloquium can be held in person or via video conference (two-way audio and video required).
- If you fail, you may repeat it once within 3 months (with supervisor approval).
- Missing the one-year deadline without an extension may lead to de-registration.
