The Department
Welcome to the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zurich. Our faculty combines scholarly excellence with constant engagement in industry and society.
D-MTEC is one of 16 departments at ETH Zurich. It is home to 20chairs, the KOF Swiss Economic Institute, and a range of centres and labs covering a multitude of disciplines in a wide network of organisations. Altogether, about 400 employees work at the department.
“The combination of natural sciences, technology, management and economics is a unique feature of D-MTEC. The department truly combines academic excellence and a strong engagement with practice.”Markus Neuhaus, Former Chairman of the Board, PwC Switzerland
We conduct basic and applied research in management, economics, innovation, system dynamics and risk. Much of our research aims at improving the understanding of technology in organisations, societies and economies. The MTEC Department thus constitutes a bridge between the natural sciences and engineering and the larger society, while D-MTEC research complements that of other ETH departments.
